What is Homeopathy ?

Homeopathy is a system of medicine which assists the natural tendency of the body to heal itself. It achieves this by using specially prepared medicines which are deep acting and long lasting, but are without side effects. It is therefore suitable for people of all ages from newborn to elderly and is safe for pregnant and breast feeding mothers. Each person is given an individual medicine as we all express our disease in a unique way. Symptoms are regarded as the results of the dis-ease rather than the disease itself. To use an analogy, it is not the snow that causes the winter but the winter that causes the snow. In the same way it is not the symptoms which are the cause of the disease but the disease which causes the symptoms. Homeopathy treats the internal imbalance which causes the disease.

How does it work ?

Homeopathy is based on a law of nature called the Law of Similars. What a substance can cause it can cure. For example when we cut an onion we may experience stinging runny eyes and nose, and a particular soreness in the throat. The homeopathic medicine made from the onion can heal someone with these specific symptoms in e.g. hayfever.

What conditions can it treat ?

Homeopathy is able to treat people with a wide range of illnesses. People who have had successful homeopathic treatment find that their general state of health and well-being improves. They find their body is more in balance and have a greater sense of stability and individual purpose.

How long will it take to get better ?

The duration of the treatment will depend on the nature of the illness and how long you have had it. However you should notice a change in your condition very soon after you receive a prescription which matches your dis-ease. As a rough guide, estimate one month for every year of your disease.

First Consultation

The initial visit is often an unexpected though enjoyable experience for new clients. The presenting problem, family history, emotional tendencies, likes and dislikes etc. will be covered. This enables me to obtain a full symptom picture, and ensures the highest quality of treatment. Consequently the first visit will take 60-90 mins. I will consider orthodox medical diagnosis, drugs and any underlying pathology in the assessment of each individual case.
